The International Grains Council forecasts a decrease in global chickpea production by 1.0 million tons for the 2023/24 season, primarily due to a reduced harvest in India. This decline is expected to lead to a significant drop in stock levels as domestic consumption in India increases. Looking ahead to the 2024/25 season, production is anticipated to stabilize at 16.8 million tons. However, both consumption and stock levels are projected to fall, attributed to the dwindling supplies. The trade volume of chickpeas is estimated to remain steady at 2.4 million tons in 2025, indicating no notable change from the year before.
