Global sunflower trade is expected to surpass 5 million tons this year, a significant increase from the 2.2 million tons of the previous year, according to OilWorld. This growth is largely due to Ukraine, which has shifted its focus from selling finished products to supplying raw materials due to an energy crisis. The country is projected to export 2.7 million tons of seeds this year, a major increase from previous years. The largest recipients of Ukrainian sunflower seeds are Bulgaria, Romania, Hungary, and Turkey, with the EU doubling its imports to 2.2 million tons.
