Yerba mate records advance in external sales

The Agricultural Economic Bulletin released this Thursday (6) by the Department of Rural Economics (Deral), from the State Secretariat of Agriculture and Supply, reported that Brazil exported 49,182 tons of yerba mate in 2024, an increase of 19% compared to the previous year. According to the document, "in 2023, 41,238 tons were sent, generating revenue close to US$ 102 million." The product is classified by the Common Nomenclature of Mercosur into two categories, "mate simply cancheado" and "other types of mate," with the latter accounting for the largest volume exported. The report pointed out that the main destinations for Brazilian yerba mate were Uruguay, with 32,667 tons, followed by Argentina, with 7,674 tons, and Syria, with 3,220 tons. Deral highlighted that Paraná sent 5,248 tons in 2024, which corresponds to about 11% of the national total.
