Ziraat Don, led Samsun to the top in hazelnut production

Samsun Agricultural and Forestry Director Kemal Yılmaz said that the agricultural frost affecting Turkey has negatively impacted hazelnut production, especially in high-altitude orchards. Yılmaz emphasized that Samsun, less affected by the frost compared to other provinces, produced 90 thousand tons of hazelnuts this year, surpassing Ordu for the first time in history and becoming "the province with the highest hazelnut production in Turkey." This year, agricultural frost and natural disasters affecting Turkey caused serious losses, particularly in high-altitude hazelnut orchards. While the loss rate increased in high-altitude areas, the damage in low-altitude areas remained limited.
