The Zambia National Farmers Union (ZNFU) has urged the Food Reserve Agency (FRA) to increase the maize price for this year to enable farmers to recover full costs and increase profits. The current price of K110 offered by the FRA last year is not supporting farmers, leading them to rely on the private sector for better prices. ZNFU president, Jervis Zimba, has called on the government to offer an attractive price for farmers' produce to encourage them to sell and reduce the temptation to smuggle.
