The fishery sector achieved positive results in the first 6 months of 2023, with a total seafood production of 4.27 million tons, up 1.7% compared to the same period in 2022. Fishing output reached 1.93 million tons, while aquaculture output reached 2.34 million tons. However, the sector faces challenges due to the slow recovery of the global economy, decreased consumption demand for seafood products, high prices of goods and inputs for aquaculture, and high logistics costs. In the next 6 months, the sector aims to achieve a total fishery output of 4.78 million tons and an export turnover of $5.8 billion. Measures will be taken to promote industry restructuring, improve productivity and quality, monitor weather and market demand, and strengthen environmental monitoring and disease control.
