In W18, in the chicken egg landscape, as of April 26, the national egg-feed price ratio in China stood at 2.93, a drop of 1.68% MoM. Currently, chicken egg demand in China is stagnant, and stocks are maintained at low levels. There is still a risk of falling egg prices in the short term. However, there is also a need for replenishment in some markets after the Labour Day week, with egg prices in China likely to rebound slightly in W19. The technical team of the Uruguayan Animal Health Division of the Ministry of Livestock, Agriculture, and Fisheries (MGAP) delivered 468K doses of vectorized vaccine against avian influenza for laying hens and breeders starting on May 2, with 900K doses of this vaccine destined for incubators in this first installment. In Ontario, Canada, USD 10.05M is being invested in a new poultry research center, which is home to more than 2,600 poultry and egg farms and will support animal welfare, reproduction, nutrition, meat quality, and food safety. Construction is scheduled to begin in 2024 and be completed by 2026. In the Netherlands, the EU funding for the vaccine against salmonella has been waived, according to the poultry groups COBK, LTO/NOP, and NVP. Therefore, Dutch poultry producers can no longer make use of the subsidy programme. Lastly, on May 1, the NVWA in the Netherlands changed the process to a digital form requesting an exemption for the transportation of ready-to-lay chickens from a prohibited area owing to bird flu. The waivers can be obtained 14 days after the avian flu restriction zone is established.
