The average production cost of eggs has increased by 17.46% in Q2-23, reaching USD 0.042/egg, primarily due to rising costs of animal feed, vaccines, preventive medicines, water, and electricity. The country currently has 52.08 million laying hens in cages, producing an estimated 43.21 million eggs per day. The export of fresh chicken eggs in the first four months of 2023 reached 163.53 million eggs worth USD 20.39 million, showing an increase in volume and value compared to the same period last year. Thailand has also exported 20.83 million eggs to Taiwan as of June 12, 2023, expecting to export over 50 million eggs worth more than USD 6.52 million to Taiwan in 2023. This export opportunity will create a new market and help stabilize prices for farmers within the country.
