The peanut harvest has commenced in the Havariye region of Tunisia's Nabel governorate. However, farmers in the region are encountering difficulties attributed to the persistent drought and crop damage caused by pigs. The importance of peanut production in Nabel province is underscored by the significant contribution of the Havariye region, accounting for 80% of Tunisia's total peanut output. The adverse effects of the drought led to a decline in the quantity and quality of peanuts, resulting in lower market prices and imposing considerable stress on local farmers.
In Tuyên Quang province, Vietnam, the Department of Horticulture and Plant Protection launched a project to promote peanut cultivation in the area. The project involved two training courses and assisted 159 farmers in applying for planting area codes. Consequently, two peanut planting area codes have been issued, covering a total area of 20 hectares. This development makes the cooperatives eligible to export their peanuts to the Chinese market. The initiative aims to improve the quality and safety of peanut cultivation while also creating export opportunities for local peanut farmers in Tuyên Quang province.
