Saffron prices in Iran surged by as much as 175% YoY after the crop was nearly halved by drought at the end of last year. However, USD 1,000.00/kg appears to be a ceiling for saffron prices in Iran. This level has been broken through twice, but prices dropped back soon on both occasions. Iranian exports dropped by 44% in the first quarter of 2022, mostly due to saffron simply not being available.
