Garlic prices in China surged by 88.09% YoY to USD 0.99/kg in W51, due to subpar harvest in Northern areas and strong export demand particularly from Indonesia and Malaysia. In addition, China’s garlic cultivation areas decreased by 15% YoY in 2023, as a consequence of low prices after a bumper harvest in 2022. The prices are expected to remain high, given the ample export orders in Nov-23.
