Sugar prices in Indonesia rose by 19.24% YoY to USD 1.07/kg in Nov-23 due to a global sugar price surge caused by low production estimates in Thailand and India. In response, the Indonesian government is importing sugar seeds from Australia and Brazil to boost local cultivation and reduce dependence on international suppliers.
