Definition of direct marketing Farmers are direct marketers if they sell the cow's milk or products made from it in their own name, for their own account and at their own responsibility directly to end consumers (also applies to catering for guests on holiday on the farm), food retailers, wholesalers, Hand in community suppliers or gastronomy. The sale of cow's milk to farms for animal feed also falls under this definition. Personal consumption on the farm and the sale of cow's milk to “first-time buyers” (dairies or processing companies) do not count towards direct marketing.
