The joint committee of the free trade agreement between Switzerland and the EU has adapted tariffs for certain imported processed agricultural products, such as cookies, pasta or ice cream. The free trade agreement allows Switzerland to offset the higher prices of agricultural raw materials with import tariffs on processed agricultural products. This instrument aims to preserve the competitiveness of the food industry.
