Junín, Peru: Hailstorm affects 70 hectares of crops in Chupaca

The intense hailstorm registered last Saturday affected a total of 70 hectares of crop fields located in the populated centers of Chacapampa, Huaychulo, San Juan, Puquio, Santa Cruz and La Unión, in the district of San Juan de Jarpa, in the province of Chupaca, Junín region. The Chupaca Agrarian Agency, of the Junín Regional Directorate of Agriculture, deployed its technical team, which evaluated the agricultural damage and found 200 affected families. Of the total affected and damaged crops, 10% correspond to potatoes and grass and 90% to barley, broad bean, wheat, peas, mashua and olluco.
