This has been announced by the European Commission. The differences between countries within the European Union are large. Milk collection increased most strongly in Romania, with an increase of 13.6 percent in the first four months. Milk production in neighboring Bulgaria increased by 8.9 percent in the period January to April compared to a year earlier. The larger climbers also include Belgium (+4.3 percent), Germany (+2.8 percent) and Estonia (+5.1 percent). Other countries saw their milk production decline in the first four months. These countries include a few important milk-producing countries such as Ireland (-1.3 percent), France (-1.9 percent) and Italy (-2 percent). Big fallers are Lithuania (-4.3 percent), Hungary (-5.7 percent) and Croatia (-6.1 percent). Organic dairy In April, 4.1 percent of the milk collected in the European Union was of organic origin.
