Earlier this week, the first export of grouper from Belitong regency in the South Sumatra province was successfully done by the local exporters in the area. The total shipment of 15 MT of grouper is on shipment to Hong Kong for the first buyer and then would continue by land transport to the second buyer in mainland China. This export also marks the reopening of fishery and shipment activities in this province after the operational activities were almost completely shut down for the most part of the second quarter of 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic. Moreover, this shipment also put the total shipment of grouper from Indonesia to 50 MT mark early in the second half of 2020, which is considered a good achievement so far by the national industry as the demand for this commodity was considerably low during the first half of 2020.
