Brazilian beef exports grew by 8% in handling and 11% in revenue in 2020

Total beef exports of Brazil (in natura & processed) broke the record of 2 million tons. The exports recorded an increase of 8% in volume and 11% in revenue. In December alone, 168,156 tons of beef was shipped generating a revenue of USD 741 million. China and Hong Kong were the largest importers by importing 1,182,672 tons of beef which were worth USD 5.1 billion. Egypt remains the second-largest buyer and Chile in the third position. For 2021, ABRAFRIGO foresees maintaining the volume purchased by China and is expecting an increased demand (estimated at 5%) from Europe and the Arab countries. With the arrival of the vaccine against COVID-19 and the reopening of trade and tourism, the beef exports of the country are expected to rise further in the upcoming year.
