Government support in irrigation to increase the production of sugarcane in the central eastern region of Mexico

Due to drought from the central-eastern region, sugarcane production has been falling by over 0.5 million MT per year over the last 3 years.
As a result, the local government and the ministry of agriculture have recently allowed irrigation support for sugarcane production in the region, and this is expected to increase next year's production by up to 1 million MT.
