During the first three quarters 2020, Germany imported a total of US $ 24.904 million, 7% above the same period of 2019 in agricultural products. About CIF US $ 351 million were provided by Peru (-2% reduction compared to 2019). Peru ranked 17th (loosing two positions) with 1.4% participation (-0.1% compared to 2019). This information considered both direct imports and indirect imports. In some cases, such as avocados, indirect shipments that originated in Peru can represent more than 90% of the total, while, in the case of consolidated products, such as coffee, indirect shipments represent less than 10% .

If only direct shipments are counted, the Top 5 of the main products sent to Germany were, in order of imported value were coffee, cocoa, mango, banana and asparagus, which represented 78% of the basket provided by Peru. However, if direct and indirect shipments are considered, the Top 5 of the products that led shipments were coffee, avocado, mango, cocoa and bananas, which represented 66% of the basket.

In that sense, products such as grapes, ginger, asparagus and mandarins that have a relevant share in German imports, are not been considered when using on direct shipments information.
