Brazil: 2022 peanut crop could be 20% higher than last year

The 2022 peanut crop will reach a growth of 15% to 20% higher than the 2021 crop, according to Cristiano Zanguetin Fantin, President of the Association of Peanut Beneficiaries and Exporters of the State of São Paulo (Abeaesp). The crop, which was planted between the months of October and December of last year, begins to be harvested next week, starting on 02/15 and the harvest extends until the end of April. The State of São Paulo is responsible for 93% of all peanuts produced in the country. The volume expectation for this crop is that it can reach one million tons of raw peanuts, highlighted the Association's President. Between the years 2019 and 2020, the price for the producer grew by an average of 45% due to the increase in the volume of exports, with the dollar favoring the producing regions during the last year and the price remained practically stable.
