Turkey is the world's leading producer and exporter of hazelnuts, accounting for 70 percent of the global market. The nut is grown across 39 provinces by approximately 600 thousand farmers over an area of 728 thousand hectares. The Düzce Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry has reported that in the first two months of 2021, 4,803 tons 131 kilograms of hazelnuts were exported, primarily to European Union countries.
