The President of the Turkish Agriculture, Livestock and Beekeeping Federation, Mustafa Sarıoğlu, has conscioused the public about the adulteration of honey in Turkey. He indicated that 70% of the country's honey production is fake, and that 95% of the honey found in hotels, restaurants, and other accommodations is also fake. The honey is reportedly being mixed with direct glucose, starch-based sugar, and enzymes. Sarıoğlu also emphasized the serious issue of agricultural and chemical poisons harming bees and the broader implications for agriculture and food safety. He has called for a reevaluation of the country's agricultural bureaucracy and the urgent declaration of agriculture and food as national security issues.
