The Batam Marine Cultivation Fisheries Center (BPBL) has made a breakthrough in mass-producing hybrid pomfret fry, a result of crossbreeding a male star pomfret and a female golden pomfret. This success is anticipated to boost marine aquaculture production and is expected to support the maintenance of the purity of the star and golden pomfret lines. The hybrid pomfret has advantages such as meat thickness, faster growth, and higher survival rates, making it beneficial for cultivators in terms of production costs and income. The innovation is also expected to support production for both domestic and export markets, and the Technical Service Unit (UPT) of DJPB is encouraged to distribute the innovation widely throughout Indonesia.
