A study titled 'Nutriscore Label on Olive Oil: Does it Affect its Perception?' published in the journal 'Foods' reveals that the use of the Nutriscore nutritional traffic light label on olive oil bottles, which receives a 'C' mark, does not harm the product's image. The research, conducted among 486 Spanish consumers, found that 79.8% of the participants found the label useful for understanding the nutritional quality differences among various oils and considered olive oil the healthiest choice. Despite concerns within the olive sector about potential negative impacts on sales and exports, the study indicates that the use of Nutriscore is well-accepted and understood by a majority of consumers. The Nutriscore label is a voluntary, color-coded system that rates food products from A to E based on criteria such as calories, saturated fat, sugar, and salt per 100 grams.
