Brazilian rice exports grew more than 20% in the 1st half

Rice exports (husk base) closed the first half of this year with growth of more than 20% compared to the same period in 2022. From January to June, shipments totaled 852.3 thousand tons, against 689.2 thousand tons of same six months of last year, informs the Brazilian Rice Industry Association (Abiarroz), based on data from the Ministry of Development, Industry, Commerce and Services (Mdic). Revenue from foreign sales from January to June 2023 was US$ 290.7 million, compared to US$ 199.3 million in the same period last year. The result for the first half of 2023 represents a 45% increase in revenue in the same comparison. Also according to Abiarroz, shipments of processed rice, with higher added value, totaled 99 thousand tons in the first six months of this year, with revenue of R$ 44.3 million.
