Adapar carries out surveillance action for equine infectious anemia

The Agricultural Defense Agency of Paraná (Adapar) carried out, between October 13 and 17, a surveillance action for Equine Infectious Anemia (EIA) in the municipality of Inácio Martins, in the South-Central region of the State. The activity is part of the State Program for Surveillance and Prevention of Equine Diseases and aims to identify and diagnose diseases such as EIA. The work was carried out by a team of nine employees, veterinary doctors, and agricultural technicians, in partnership with the municipality. The agency's initiative occurred after the identification of a high number of disease outbreaks in the municipality in 2024 and 2025. In partnership with the municipal government, the inspectors and agricultural defense enforcement assistants collected blood samples from 198 animals in more than 50 properties within the outbreak areas, to identify positive animals and take sanitary actions.
