On March 14, 2023, Vietnam saw a decrease in coffee prices, with rates varying from 47,000 VND/kg to 47,500 VND/kg across different provinces. Despite this, the global market experienced a drop in Robusta coffee prices and a slight increase in Arabica coffee prices. In 2022, Vietnam's coffee production reached 1.84 million tons, with over 93% of it coming from the Central Highlands provinces. The country also certified 185.8 thousand hectares of coffee land, creating job opportunities for nearly 600 thousand farmers. Vietnam exported over 1.77 million tons of coffee, generating over $4.05 billion in revenue, with Robusta coffee being the dominant export.
Concurrently, Vietnam's pepper market witnessed price fluctuations, ranging from 63,500 VND/kg to 66,000 VND/kg, depending on the province. Despite China's imports of pepper decreasing by 35.6% in 2022, China is expected to revive its pepper trade following the lifting of Covid-19 isolation measures on January 8, 2023.
