On March 21, 2023, Vietnam saw a rise in the prices of key agricultural products, with coffee prices ranging from 46,300 VND/kg to 46,800 VND/kg across various provinces, amidst a slight increase in global Robusta and Arabica coffee prices. The International Coffee Organization forecasts a slight decrease in global coffee production for the 2022-2023 crop year, while global consumption is expected to rise, leading to an oversupply situation. Vietnam, a major coffee producer, is projected to experience a decline in production due to decreasing planting areas.
Pepper prices in Vietnam reached a high of 66,000 VND/kg, making Vietnam the world's leader in pepper production and export. The country's pepper industry has tapped only 40-50% of its potential, indicating room for growth. Meanwhile, Colombia's coffee production experienced a decline after four consecutive months of growth, and weather and political instability negatively affected coffee production and exports in Peru.
