Switzerland: Animal welfare reinforced in the Green Carpet

For the year 2021, the Confederation's annual census reports a further increase in participation in the Green Carpet and in the SST and SRPA programs, one of the essential requirements of the sector standard for Swiss sustainable milk in terms of good - to be animal. Currently, 90% of dairy farms meet this criterion. By the end of 2023, most cheese milk producers will also be registered on the Green Carpet (Graph PSL). At the end of March 2022, bdlait.ch listed 11,840 farms registered on the Green Carpet, or 700 more than a year ago. Considering that 17,579 farms producing commercial milk are registered in the Confederation's SIPA database, the participation rate has increased by 7% to reach 67%.
