A recent report highlights the ongoing African Swine Fever (ASF) outbreaks in South Korea, with the latest incident occurring on a pig farm in Inje, Gangwon-do, marking the second outbreak in the area since August and the fifth in the country this year. The farm, housing 550 pigs, tested positive for ASF ahead of slaughter, prompting immediate quarantine measures including pig culling and area disinfection. The outbreak is suspected to be linked to wild boar, with 23 positive detections near the farm since last year. In response, the government is implementing strict quarantine regulations and reviewing farm management practices. This situation has led the Prime Minister to intervene, emphasizing the need for increased cooperation among relevant organizations to contain the spread of ASF.
