Areas under organic farming increased by 62% in two years in Ukraine

The area of land intended for growing organic products during 2017-19 increased by 62%, and the number of agricultural producers - "organic" - by 55%. This was announced by the head of the department of state policy in the field of organic production of the Ministry of Economy Valentina Zayets at the VII International Conference "Organic Processing and Trade 2020". Thus, the area of land intended for growing organic products in 2017 was 289 thousand hectares, and in 2019 - 468 thousand hectares. However, the total share of agricultural land under organic still remains insignificant - only 1.1% of the total agricultural land in the country.
