Armenia has emerged as a significant exporter of fresh apples, with exports exceeding 2.7 thousand tons in 2020 and showing signs of continued growth in 2021. The increase in apple exports is accompanied by a rise in imports, particularly from Iran. The growth in both exports and imports is due to an increase in apple production within Armenia, enabled by the development of modern apple orchards. However, the country faces challenges in storage, sorting, and packing facilities for apples, though efforts to address these issues are underway. This situation underscores the broader issues of the global fresh apple market crisis.
