Brazil: Mato Grosso declares a zoosanitary emergency for a period of 180 days due to cases of avian influenza

Mato Grosso, in response to a recommendation from the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (Mapa), declared, through decree nº 412 published today (31.08) in the Official Gazette, a zoosanitary emergency for a period of 180 days, due to the cases of avian influenza detected in wild and domestic animals in Brazil. The State has no record of cases of highly pathogenic avian influenza (H5N1), and since the first cases were confirmed in January this year in Bolivia, it has reinforced biosafety measures and monitoring of poultry health. (Check below the list of States that have already adopted the measure) In addition to Mato Grosso, other states such as Mato Grosso do Sul (MS) and Tocatins (TO), also with no record of cases of bird flu, followed Mapa's recommendation and declared an animal health emergency.
