On the last tomato day, celebrated on February 1st, the Bahia Secretariat of Agriculture, Livestock, Irrigation, Fisheries and Aquaculture informed that the state continues as the leader in fruit production in the Northeast and among the main producers in the country. According to a survey by the IBGE cited by the department, the 2025 harvest reached 183 thousand tons, with an area cultivated around 6.5 thousand hectares. "In years of higher production, the tomato chain reaches almost R$ 1 billion in the state's economy," the secretariat informed.
