A report by German and French wildlife conservation groups, 'Pro Wildlife' and 'Robain de Bois', has revealed that the demand for frog legs in Europe, particularly in France and Belgium, is contributing to the extinction of certain frog species in Indonesia, Turkey, and Albania. Each year, Europe imports 200 million frogs from overseas, with 74% coming from Indonesia, 21% from Vietnam, 4% from Turkey, and 0.7% from Albania. The groups are calling on EU member states to limit frog imports and for consumers to be informed about the origin of frog legs. They also recommend expanding the protection of species under the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora.
