The total shipment volume for the past twelve months, from February 2022 to January 2023, saw a significant surge of 22.1%, totaling 2.289 million tons. However, early estimates for February suggest a potential decline in export volumes. Furthermore, the outbreak of Bovine Spongiform Encephalopathy (BSE or 'mad cow disease') in Brazil and the subsequent suspension of beef exports to China could negatively impact total exports in the short term.
