Belgium is taking the next steps in banning IBR

The general deadline for the removal of IBR carriers in a flock is set at October 31, 2023. Only farms with a recent introduction and an approved plan of action will be given a period of 4 years to remove all IBR carriers. The trade in cattle infected with IBR is prohibited, unless it concerns direct transport to an abattoir or a grazer location where animals are kept until they are fit for slaughter. Delivery of calves to a veal calf farm also remains possible. Traders' stables will eventually also receive an IBR status.
