Spain and China have intensified their bilateral cooperation with six new agreements in the areas of animal health and agri-food exports.

The six agreements reached with the Asian country cover high value-added products and establish stable health frameworks that favor bilateral trade. These include a protocol to recognize regionalization in case of avian influenza and Newcastle disease for poultry exports from free zones; two related to pork and pork products; another on phytosanitary matters for plant products that will allow the export of pistachio and dried fig to China; and one more on the use of animal proteins as fertilizer. In addition, a memorandum of understanding on geographical indications has been signed. Since 2018, Spain and China have signed 22 collaboration agreements for the export of food.
