Brazil's agriculture sector had a historic year in 2023, with a record trade surplus of US$ 98.8 billion, driven by the expansion of markets and increased exports. The country opened 78 new markets in 39 countries and exported beef, pork, cotton, and corn to Mexico, the Dominican Republic, Egypt, and China respectively for the first time. Agricultural exports reached a record US$ 166 billion, accounting for 49% of Brazil's total exports.
