In 2020, Brazilian exports to Canada saw a 25% increase in total value compared to the previous year, reaching US $ 4.2 billion, as per the Brazil-Canada Chamber of Commerce (CCBC). The agribusiness sector was the most significant contributor to this growth. Notable increases were seen in the exports of peeled peanuts, other cane sugars, and cocoa and its preparations. The success of Brazilian peanuts is credited to the Pro-Amendoim Program, which has focused on quality certifications. The currency devaluation, reduced oil prices, and the pandemic's impact on ethanol production also played a role in boosting the performance of other export categories.
