Buyeo-gun, a region in South Korea, has redefined its list of products for agricultural development, removing zucchini and shiitake due to low competitiveness and adding grapes due to their environmental friendliness and market potential. Other products like strawberry, melon, chestnut, watermelon, mushroom, cucumber, cinnamon, tomato, and Buyeo king jujube were retained. The region plans to establish these products as luxury agricultural goods through quality control and customized marketing.
The decision was based on a citizen and expert survey, with grapes receiving positive attention for their high market value, environmental friendliness, and health benefits. Buyeo grapes have been identified as a new income source for farmers, with their price surpassing the average market price by 108%. The region is committed to positioning these products as high-end agricultural goods loved by consumers.
