On the morning of May 30, VIMC Container Transport Joint Stock Company (VIMC Lines) - a member unit of Vietnam Maritime Corporation (VIMC), in collaboration with DP World Vietnam, launched the Mekong Express domestic container transport service connecting Cai Mep Port (Ba Ria - Vung Tau) and Cai Cui Port (Can Tho City). With an operating frequency of 2 trips/week, the Mekong Express maritime route uses a combined river-sea route. This service helps reduce cargo transportation time from Can Tho City to Cai Mep Port from 48 hours to 15 hours (equivalent to nearly 70% reduction compared to traditional river transport methods).
