A report from the Rosario Stock Exchange (BCR) has once again highlighted the importance of corn in Argentina: The crop contributes 1 out of every 10 dollars that enter through exports, and it does so by supplying rather exotic destinations, which would not appear at first glance on the radar of those unfamiliar with the agricultural business. What have been the four largest buyers of Argentine corn in the 2023/24 campaign? "While Asia is the main destination continent for Argentine corn, neither China nor India are among the top countries buying it. Rather, Vietnam and Malaysia, countries in Southeast Asia, stand out as the main customers in that region," the BCR begins to unravel this mystery with this phrase in the report.
