The Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE) has reported an 11.2% increase in cattle slaughter between July and September 2022, compared to the same period in the previous year, reaching 7.81 million heads. There was also a 5.8% increase compared to the second quarter of the year. The weight of pig carcasses reached 1.33 million tons, an increase of 3.8% from the same period in 2021, and chicken carcasses reached 3.73 million tons, a 2.2% increase. The purchase of raw milk by establishments under sanitary inspection reached six billion liters in the third quarter of 2022, marking a decrease of 3.4% from the same period in 2021. Production of chicken eggs in the same quarter was 1.01 billion dozen, a decrease of 0.2% from the previous year but an increase of 1.4% from the previous quarter. Production of rawhide in tanneries increased by 5.4% compared to the same period in 2021 and the previous quarter.
