The Chilean blueberry season for 2024-2025 concluded with a successful increase in shipments by 5% compared to the previous season, reaching over 90,000 tons and surpassing the estimated volume by 12%. This growth is largely attributed to a 50% rise in new varieties, which made up 21% of exports. Frozen blueberry shipments remained steady at 60,000 tons, accounting for 40% of global exports. Europe and the United States were the leading markets, each receiving 43% of the exports, while Asia and Latin America experienced notable growth. The season faced challenges such as increased competition, especially from Peru, and logistical issues like delays in inspections, limited shipping services, and container shortages, alongside storm surges affecting shipments and announcements of port closures in the United States.
