Fruit producers in Chile are grappling with a crisis due to fires that have caused significant damage to crops, warehouses, solar panels, processing rooms, and water tanks in the regions of Ñuble, Biobío and Araucanía. The worst-hit producers are cherry and lemon farmers in the Ñuble region, who have lost entire crops and farms. Blueberry farmers are estimating over 200 tons of product damage. Fedefruta is collecting information to evaluate the damage and will allocate resources to support the authorities and the Ministry of Agriculture, which plans to provide over 1.8 million dollars to the affected operators.
