The Chilean Agricultural Livestock Service (SAG) has initiated its own REDUCE Program, a venture inspired by a 2016 Spanish initiative aimed at limiting colistin use in swine production. This program, previously shown to be effective in Spain across various livestock categories, has gained support from Agrosuper in Chile. The REDUCE Program's adoption in Chile marks a significant step forward in the country's efforts to combat antibiotic resistance. Since its inception in Spain, antibiotic consumption in veterinary medicine has decreased by 58.8% from 2014 to 2019, attributed to the collaboration of veterinarians and farmers.
