In 2022, Chile broke its own record for plum exports, shipping 158,000 tons worth 221 million euros, a rise of 33% from the previous record in 2019. This positioning places Chile as the leading plum exporter, with South Africa and Spain trailing significantly. Uzbekistan also saw a surge in exports, ranking fourth with a record 48,400 tons, largely due to high yields following spring frost conditions. Despite low prices, which boosted exports to Kazakhstan and Russia, Uzbek growers express dissatisfaction with the market situation. Chile's export diversity, reaching 44 countries, contrasts with Uzbekistan's focusing on a few major markets.
