Between January and February of 2023, Chile achieved significant growth in its fruit exports, with a total of 738,000 tons exported valued at $2.547 billion FOB, marking a 14.3% increase in volume and a 7.3% increase in value compared to the same period in the previous year. The majority of this value, 88.7%, came from fresh fruit.
Cherries emerged as the top fruit export, with a volume of 300,230 tons and a value of $1.543 billion FOB, despite a slight increase in both volume and value compared to the previous year. The United States was the primary importer of Chilean cherries, accounting for 89% of their total value. Blueberries were the second most exported fruit, with a value of $314 million FOB, despite a decrease in both volume and increase in value. The United States and the Netherlands were the main buyers. Table grapes, while maintaining the third spot, saw a decrease in both volume and value. Processed fruits, including juices, oils, preserves, frozen, and dehydrated fruits, also experienced an increase in exports.
